Everyone at West Point wants your plebe to succeed. It wasn't until I read the book, that I became aware of all of the extracurricular sports programs, travel opportunities, etc. that West Point offers. In addition, the book points out that it's actually possible to have some fun at the academy, especially after the Plebe year.
This is a book that spells it out as it is/5(54). Plebe Summer begins at the end of June or the beginning of July, and is called Induction Day or "I-Day". On I-Day, all the candidates say goodbye to their parents.
Upon entering Alumni Hall, they are greeted by the upper-class trainers, known as Detailers, who immediately begin their military training by requiring the plebes to address them with Sir or Ma'am "sandwiches" (e.g. "Sir, yes, sir"). Books, man.

At West Point, Thursday nights are pretty rowdy when the cows and firsties come back from the club after having downed a pint or two. 21st birthdays ARE celebrated. So there are differences - SA kids and ROTC kids come out with different skills.
